The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) signed an implementation arrangement on the first day of the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition being held in Paris on 15-19 June 2026 on cooperation in preparing the procurement of tracked armoured personnel carriers (APCs). The Implementation Arrangement for Common Arctic Mobility between Finland and Sweden was signed on 15 June by Lieutenant General Jari Mikkonen, FDF deputy chief of staff, armaments and logistics, and Brigadier General Jonas Lotsne, the FMV's director of land systems.
Patria said in a press release later the same day that the agreement would enable technology cooperation on the procurement of the Patria TRACKX pre-series tracked all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
FAMOUS programme
The Patria TRACKX tracked APC has been developed under the multinational Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured Systems (FAMOUS) programme co-funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF). The development aims to deliver a vehicle with ballistic protection, high road mobility, and the ability to operate effectively in difficult environments, including soft terrain, from deep snow and marshes to desert sand dunes. According to Patria, TRACKX combines the features of wheeled and traditional tracked vehicles, delivering operational freedom of manoeuvre anytime and anywhere across all seasons, terrain, and conditions.
