US Army officials have selected General Dynamics to design and develop an expeditionary variant of the ground service's primary offensive and defensive cyberwarfare platform.

Programme officials from General Dynamics will begin work on the new Radio Delivery Effects Platform-Portable (RDEP-P) variant, dubbed the “2.0 capability”, after service leaders awarded the company the RDEP-P 2.0 development deal in September 2026. General Dynamics officially announced details of the RDEP-P 2.0 agreement on 26 October.

Under the terms of the deal, General Dynamics will provide “prototype delivery, operator training, open-systems integration and life cycle support” according to the company's 26 October statement. The deal will finance a “12-month base period and options for additional production, fielding and sustainment support,” according to the statement.

RDEP-P 2.0 “will serve as a critical host for integrating future cyber electromagnetic activities capabilities and software-centric modular mission payloads at the tactical edge”, it added.

The General Dynamics-developed RDEP-P 2.0 platform will be anchored by the company's Rampart 10-slot 3U VPX edge computing chassis, “a ruggedized, modular platform supporting Army cyber and electronic warfare missions,” company officials said in the 26 October statement.

Designed for compliance with the US Department of Defense's (DoD) Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) Mounted Form Factor (CMFF) parameters, the Rampart 10 will fill the Tactical Radio Frequency Application Chassis (TRAC) programme requirement, which is designed to carry out “spectrum monitoring, [Cyber Electromagnetic Activities] mission planning and non-kinetic effects deployment to neutralize the adversary's signals”, according to an army fact sheet.
