The Latvian Armed Forces have been using the Natrix NXU unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) since the start of May 2026, Kristaps Puke, CEO of Natrix, told Janes on 12 May during NATO's Crystal Arrow 2026 military exercise in Latvia.
The platform's primary use case is logistics and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) but it can also be fitted with a remote weapon station (RWS). Natrix is collaborating with an undisclosed number of Ukrainian companies to integrate a MK-19, 40 mm grenade launcher onto the Natrix NXU, according to Puke. Natrix is also looking to integrate its UGV with the 7.62 mm FN Herstal Minimi Mk3 machine gun. “We're going through the test phase with the gun. It is not in production,” Puke said.
Natrix is at the beginning of its collaboration with the Latvian Armed Forces, according to Puke. In the coming months, the company will be in discussions with Latvian personnel on any additional modifications that need to be made to the platform.
The Latvian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 10 April 2026 that it had signed contracts with Latvian UGV companies including Brasa Defence Systems, LV-Teh, and Natrix for the integration of systems with the Latvian-made UGV.
