Raytheon Australia has developed a tactical vehicle designed to enhance the Australian Defence Force's (ADF's) ability to operate in contested electromagnetic environments.
Speaking to Janes , Ohad Katz, managing director of Raytheon Australia, said the company's new Electronic Warfare Tactical Engagement (EWTE) vehicle provides both electronic support (ES) and electronic attack (EA) capabilities to the ADF.
Katz said the EWTE vehicle can play a key role in the ADF's future electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO), which include co-ordinated electronic warfare (EW), spectrum management, and intelligence operations, against adversaries.
“We are positioned to be the ADF's EMSO partner and the EWTE reflects our investment in the new era for Australia's spectrum operations,” he said. Katz added that the EWTE can also be employed to research, test, and validate new technologies, and to train personnel in EW.
He said, “As a mobile capability, the EWTE is deployed to training events and used for operator training and ‘red force' emulation. The EWTE is also used to train EW operators in how the electromagnetic spectrum works, what methods can be used to counter EW attacks and suppress threats and how to recognise and counter EW effects.
“The EWTE is [also] used to research, develop and test emerging capabilities to evaluate enhancements, identify future uses and options to address capability gaps.”
Katz went on to highlight how the EWTE has already been incorporated into ADF exercises and evaluations.
