India records thirteenth Mirage 2000 crash

A Dassault Mirage 2000TH of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has crashed during a routine training sortie, the service has said.
According to the IAF, the aircraft crashed on 6 February near Shivpuri in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh after experiencing a system malfunction. The crashed aircraft appears to be a two-seat Mirage 2000TH, a combat trainer. According to Janes data, the 6 February crash constitutes the 13th crash of an IAF Mirage 2000 since April 1987.
“Both the pilots ejected safely,” the IAF said in a statement, adding that it has ordered an enquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident.
India began inducting the Mirage 2000s from 1984. According to Janes inventory data, the air force currently operates three variants, including three Mirage 2000Is, 39 Mirage 2000Hs, and eight dual-seat Mirage 2000THs.
