Eurobotics details updates for the Falcon aerial target
EUROBOTICS Falcon aerial target (EUROBOTICS)
Eurobotics has revealed to Janes that the Falcon aerial target is scheduled to conduct its first flight in 2027.
The Falcon is designed as an attritable supersonic aerial target that can also be configured as a one-way attack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), a decoy for penetrating layered air defence environments, or as a ‘loyal wingman' for manned aircraft.
The aerial target is being developed by Canadian company UVAD from its subsonic target Alpine Swift. Eurobotics will act as the European producer and distributor.
Gili Perl, Director International Sales for Eurobotics, told Janes that the Falcon was developed from discussions with potential customers and is intended to be “reasonably low cost”, although a specific figure wasn't given.
The target is 5.8 m in length with a wingspan of 2 m. Maximum take-off weight is 450 kg and its projected top speed is Mach 1.6. The design features low-observability characteristics and although it is intended to be sacrificial it can also be recovered by parachute.
