The Turkish Land Forces Command has received its first three electric armoured personnel carriers (APCs) from Türkiye's Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE), the state company announced in a press release on 10 July 2026.
According to MKE, the vehicles completed field trials prior to delivery and are part of an initial batch of 50 vehicles planned for the Turkish Armed Forces.
The E‑ZPT is based on the M113 APC, retaining the original hull while incorporating a number of new subsystems. The platform's diesel engine and transmission have been replaced with a domestically developed hybrid powertrain.
MKE reported that the vehicle has completed 3,000 km of endurance testing, including 1,600 km off road, 800 km on paved roads, and 600 km on gravel roads. The E‑ZPT also climbed 60% gradients and traversed 30% side slopes during testing, according to MKE.
Powered by an onboard battery pack, the vehicle has a range of up to 150 km in electric mode, increasing to 650 km with generator support. The platform can accelerate from zero to 50 km/h in eight seconds and can be fast-charged from 20% to 80% capacity in approximately 1.5 hours.
The approximately 15-tonne gross vehicle weight E-ZPT has a crew of three - comprising a commander, driver, and gunner - and can carry four additional personnel, for a total capacity of seven occupants, with a payload capacity up to 2.5 tonnes.
The E‑ZPT is also equipped with an environmental monitoring system and an automatic explosion-suppression system. The platform can be fitted with a remote weapon station armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun.
