Programme officials at Teledyne FLIR have released a new artificial intelligence (AI) enabled software stack for ground-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
The new Prism Ground ISR platform is largely based on the Prism ISR software stack developed for counter unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) operations released in April, according to a 30 June company statement. The computing power within the new ground ISR software stack is generated from NVIDIA's Orin NX and AGX system-on-module (SOM) platforms.
“Prism Ground ISR combines AI-powered detection with computational imaging to extend detection range, improve track persistence, and reduce false alarms” regarding potential adversary threats, according to the statement.
Ground ISR software stack was specifically designed for compatibility with the company's Boson and Neutrino variants of longwave infrared (LWIR) and mid-wave infrared (MWIR) thermal cameras, the statement said. “The software is also compatible with select third-party infrared and electro-optical sensors, enabling comprehensive multi-sensor solutions,” it added.
The ground ISR software stack leverages turbulence mitigation, image dehazing and enhanced infrared visibility technologies to support “fine-grained military vehicle classification and improved target recognition” in combat environments, it added.
The Prism C-UAS software stack is also configured to integrate with the Boson and Neutrino LWIR and MWIR variants, as well as select third-party sensors. But unlike the ground ISR software stack, the C-UAS variant “enables reliable sub-2 × 2‑pixel small‑drone detection and tracking, leveraging patented denoise, local contrast enhancement, and upsampling algorithms to enhance target signal‑to‑noise ratio (SNR) and deliver industry-leading moving target indicator (MTI) detection range”, a company fact sheet stated.
