Allied leaders meeting during the NATO summit in Ankara on 8 July 2026 pledged EUR70 billion (USD80 billion) in aid to Ukraine in both 2026 and 2027.

In his press conference after the summit ended, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said, “As Russia continues its war, we will continue to ensure Ukraine gets what it needs. Allies pledged to provide at least EUR70 billion in military equipment, assistance, and training for Ukraine this year and again next year as we continue to press for peace. As Ukraine shifts the dynamics on the battlefield, our support must continue.”

In Ankara, Germany and Ukraine signed an agreement on the joint production of deep strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Under the agreement, Ukrainian UAVs will be produced in Germany and delivered to Ukraine.

Facing an intensification of Russian air attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video posted on his office's website on 6 July that if Ukraine were granted US licences to produce Patriot surface-to-air missiles, domestic production of the interceptors would be sufficient to protect Ukraine and help partners in need.

Meeting Zelensky during the NATO summit on 8 July, US President Donald Trump said, “We're going to give a licence to you to make ‌Patriots. That's pretty cool. This way, you can't complain that we're not giving them enough. We have great power over the companies, those companies that make the Patriot. We haven't informed the company of that yet, but that'll work out all right. I'm sure they will be thrilled.”
