Insta Group signs FPV UAS deal with Finnish Defence Forces

Finnish technology company Insta Group Oy was awarded a multi-year EUR14 million (USD16.23 million) agreement to supply domestically produced first person view (FPV) unmanned aerial systems (UASs) to the Finnish Defence Forces, according to the company's 25 August news release.

The FPV UASs are capable of carrying mission-specific payloads and will support large-scale flight training across all brigade-level units. The first systems have already been delivered, as per the release.

Insta manufactures 7-inch and 10-inch FPV unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which are designed, tested, and manufactured in Finland, the company said. The news release does not specify the Insta UAS models included in the agreement, only that the systems include the platform, control systems, communications, situational awareness capabilities, and payloads.

Training, maintenance and sustainment is also part of the agreement.

The development of unmanned systems is part of Insta's broader defence portfolio, according to the company. On 23 August, Insta signed a Joint Statement of Intent with Ukraine's Tencore to establish production of Ukrainian unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in Finland. The Joint Statement of Intent includes the production in Finland, the establishment of a network of industrial partners and the creation of a joint venture. This is according to Insta's 25 August press release.

The initial goal is to produce 320 Terrain Modular Infantry Transporter (TERMIT) 2.0 UGVs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Tencore said in a 24 August social media post. The agreement with Tencore is under the Build with Ukraine initiative.

Tencore said the planned production of its UGVs in Finland is based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Insta on 24 February 2026.
