  • Malcolm Fuller
Malcolm Fuller joined the Royal Navy at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth in 1966 and spent the majority of his early career in the Fleet Air Arm. He spent two years on exchange as an Air Traffic Control Officer with the Federal German Navy at FGNS Jagel in Schelswig-Holstein from 1975 to 1977. As well as the County Class destroyer HMS Kent, he served in the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle for the final commission and HMS Invincible for her first. He was a member of the Fleet Warfare Staff at Northwood from 1980 to 1983 before attending Staff College. He later commanded HMS Shetland in the Offshore Division of the Fishery Protection Squadron.

In 1988 he was appointed to the Ministry of Defence and his final appointment in the Royal Navy was at the Southern Area Officer of the Sea Cadet Corps. Upon leaving the Service in 1995 he joined the Sea Cadet Association as Company Secretary, subsequently being appointed Managing Director in 1999. From 2001 to 2008 he worked in Central Government as the General Manager of the Youth Justice Board, a non-departmental public body dealing with youth justice issues.

    Commander David Ewing
Before joining IHS Jane's as a Consulting Editor, David had completed a full career in the Royal Navy. Working as an Advanced Warfare Officer specialising in underwater warfare, he enjoyed successful appointments in strategic, operational, training and diplomatic roles working closely with NATO, US and Middle Eastern forces. His early career was spent predominantly at sea and in operational roles, eventually leading to command. He was also appointed as the senior analyst at the UK Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre (JAAC). During his later career, staff appointments addressing policy, training, strategic planning and concepts featured strongly, and he has been closely involved with issues associated with joint operational planning, international co-operation and interoperability between UK and NATO. David has completed successful appointments in the UK MoD, on the Defence Staff in Washington DC, at NATO's Southern Region Maritime HQ, and in SHAPE/HQ Allied Command Transformation.

Actively involved in a number of NATO working groups addressing Theatre Ballistic Missile Defence, UWW policy and concepts, C4ISTAR and the NATO Defence Requirements Review under NATO Transformation, he has a broad perspective of defence matters from the tactical detail to strategic analysis. Since leaving the Royal Navy he has been involved with a variety of management and defence-related projects as an independent consultant, including procurement, bid preparation and strategic/concept development. He has worked in the defence industry, both in the UK and overseas, as a consultant addressing projects associated with information systems, UWW sensors and policy, ISTAR and Defence Logistics Management and Planning and has conducted several concepts and requirements studies for the UK MoD.
