India's acquisition of 75 Swiss-made Pilatus PC-7 Mk II tandem-seat basic trainer aircraft is set to go ahead after the Ministry of Defence (MoD) dismissed a complaint by a rival bidder.
The PC-7 purchase was postponed in late 2011 when Korean Air Industries (KAI) alleged flaws in the selection procedure after its KT-1 trainer was rejected by the Indian Air Force (IAF) following trials that also featured the Hawker-Beechcraft T-6C.
"A representation submitted by KAI, one of the bidders, has been found devoid of merit," Defence Minister AK Antony said in a written response to parliament on 2 May.
The IAF will induct 75 PC-7s acquired in fly-away condition and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will licence-build a further 106 PC-7s in Bangalore.
