China has embarked on an ambitious programme of land reclamation on the islands and reefs of the South China Sea. Using imagery provided by Airbus Defence and Space and analysis by IHS Jane’s, this first of two briefings on the South China Sea will examine the scope of this reclamation, as well as examining infrastructure development by other claimants, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
