Saronic unveiled its Corsair autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) via a 23 October announcement. The Corsair ASV is the company's third unmanned surface vehicle (USV) designed specifically for the US Navy.

Saronic has largely focused on developing and manufacturing USVs for the Defense Innovation Unit's (DIU's) Replicator programme, an effort to acquire swarms of expendable unmanned platforms.

According to Saronic, the Corsair ASV is 24 ft long and has a range of 1,000 n miles. It can carry up to 1,000 lb of payload and has a top speed of 35 kt. It has an open payload compartment intended to support strategic bluewater operations – from maritime domain awareness to delivery of kinetic and non-kinetic effects.

The company said that vertically integrating the hardware, software, and artificial intelligence (AI) enables Corsair to be rapidly manufactured at a large scale, as its development is focused specifically on scalability. Saronic told Janes it will be able to deliver thousands of ASVs annually.

In a statement, the company said each Corsair can operate on its own or it can work together with more of its kind to function as a swarm. The Corsair can be deployed from small craft, fleet assets, beachheads, or airdrops directly into an operating area.

Saronic said it developed Corsair from design to prototype to a production-ready product within a year.
