Moog is presenting the Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP) on the KNDS Deutschland Dingo 3 4×4 and Supacat High Mobility Transporter (HMT) 6×6 vehicles at Defence IQ's International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) 2025 conference being held in Farnborough from 21 to 23 January.
The company is showing a production model of the RIwP turret for the first time in the UK based on the US Army's Sgt Stout Maneuver Short-Range Air Defence (M-SHORAD) system integrated onto the Supacat Armoured Closed Cab (ACC) HMT vehicle that debuted at the Defence Vehicle Demonstration (DVD) 2024 exhibition in Millbrook, UK, on 18 and 19 September. Richard Allen-Miles, Moog's EMEA capture lead, told Janes that the fully functional turret was integrated onto the Supacat vehicle in the last few weeks. The HMT can carry a payload of 4.5–5 tonnes, with the turret weighing up to 1.5 tonnes, according to Phil Applegarth, director, head of Supacat, who added that the raised cab gives the turret 360° coverage and that a scissor lift system allows it to be lowered for transport to protect its parts, for example from tree branches.
The vehicles are being proposed for the British Army's short-range air defence (SHORAD) and counter-small aerial target (C-SAT) requirements, especially to counter unmanned aircraft systems, under the UK Ministry of Defence's Ground-Based Air Defence (GBAD) programme. Moog said in a press release on 20 January that the two systems “leverage a proven and low-risk design that shares close commonality with the US Army, one of the UK's closest operational partners”.
