Dassault Mirage 2000 fighters promised by France have now been delivered to Ukraine, French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu disclosed on 6 February.
The minister made the disclosure on his official X (formerly Twitter) account months after French President Emmanuel Macron first confirmed that an undisclosed number of Mirage 2000 combat aircraft would be transferred to Ukraine in early 2025.
“On 6 June 2024 Emmanuel Macron announced the delivery of French Mirage 2000s to Ukraine. The first of them arrived in Ukraine today. With Ukrainian pilots on board, who have been trained for several months in France, they will now participate in defending the skies of Ukraine,” the minister said.
The Le Figaro publication reported in 2023 that up to 30 Ukrainian pilots were being trained on the Mirage 2000 in France, and that the French Air and Space Force could deliver “dozens” of such jets to Kyiv if the French government takes the decision.
