Janes and T-REX partner to highlight open-source economic monitoring

Washington DC: Janes, the defense-intelligence provider based in the UK, has partnered with T-REX, a non-profit innovation organization based in St Louis, MO, for an event titled ‘Monitoring China’s Economic Influence’.

Scheduled to be held on September 22, this Janes-sponsored event will feature a panel of experts, including Janes’ very own China expert, Claire Chu, to discuss China’s global port expansion and its impact on port cities, commercial shipping, and maritime security. Interested stakeholders from academia, government, and private industry are invited to attend and participate. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to network over drinks and light fare following the panel discussion.

Ben Conklin, Chief Product Officer at Janes, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with T-REX on this event and look forward to a thought-provoking discussion. At Janes, we’re committed to supporting our customers’ missions by delivering foundational and current open-source defense intelligence that can be shared freely between agencies and mission partners.”

“China’s economic ambitions present a challenge for defense and intelligence organizations designed to monitor military activities,” said Josh White, Geospatial Director at T-REX. “T-REX is a place where we bring together diverse ideas from a variety of perspectives to seek collaborative solutions to big challenges like this. We’re thrilled to host Janes for the event and we’re looking forward to this timely discussion.
