Israeli simulation and training company Eyeviation presented its Virtual Cognitive Aware Trainer (VCAT) virtual reality (VR)-based firearms training solution at the EnforceTac 2025 defence exhibition held in Nuremberg, Germany, from 24 to 26 February.

Eyeviation's chief operating officer Sefi Gabay and vice-president business development and sales Asaf Yarkoni told Janes that the underlying technology of VCAT was originally pioneered in a different product, known as Integrated Pilot Assessment & Selection System (IPASS). Using eye tracking technology, pilot cadets of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) were assessed during flight simulation to determine their cognitive loads during various flight scenarios. This data was then processed using a variety of advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-powered algorithms to help forecast whether or not a pilot cadet would successfully pass their training. Gabay said that this forecast was made a year and half in advance and the system had an 89.8% degree of accuracy. The IPASS system is now in use with the IAF Flight Academy.
