Lithuania has transferred maritime radars to the Ukrainian Navy as part of an assistance package.
The equipment was provided at the request of the Ukrainian Navy and will support and enhance its maritime surveillance and awareness capabilities as well as protect Ukraine's territorial waters, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence (MND) announced on 27 September.
A Lithuanian MND spokesperson was unable to detail to Janes the type of equipment being sent as well as the timeframes and value of the assistance package. They did add, however, that their “recent military support aligns with Lithuania's broader commitment to bolstering Ukraine's defence capabilities and sovereignty in the face of brutal Russian aggression”.
Along with the transferred equipment, Lithuania is providing medical treatment and rehabilitation and “intense training for the Ukrainian military”, the announcement added.
