Malian Air Force orders second C295W

The Malian Air Force has ordered a second Airbus C295W transport aircraft, the company announced on 2 December.

The aircraft is slated for delivery in 2021 and will join the C295W that entered Malian service in 2016. Airbus said the first has already accumulated 1,770 flying hours and transported 38,000 passengers and 900 tonnes of cargo.
An integrated logistics support package has been included in the new contract that covers spare parts for both C295Ws, as well as training for their crews and mechanics.
“This acquisition is in response to the urgent need of the authorities of the Republic of Mali to have [a] permanent air transport capacity within a very short timeframe, providing a vital link supporting operations and actions for the development of isolated areas in the northern regions of the country,” Airbus said.
Based at Air Base 101 at Bamako-Sénou, the Malian Air Force’s transport fleet also includes two Harbin Y-12s and a Bassler 67.
