German Army to stand-up new helicopter command

The Germany Army is to form a new helicopter command geared at streamlining the decision-making process of the recently formed Division Schnelle Kräfte (DSK) Rapid Forces Division.

Speaking recently under the Chatham House Rule, a senior official said that this new helicopter command of the German-Dutch division is currently in the process of being put together, and that it will become operational in April 2021.
“The [German] Army has decided to form a new helicopter command, starting this year. This will concentrate decision-makers under one general command so as to accelerate, for example, procurement. This is happening as we talk, and it will be ready for April next year. It will be able to plug-in other departments – not only the German Air Force, but we are also looking at the German Navy and other [international] friends and partners”, the official said, adding, “It’s not a joint command – it’s an army command – but the idea is actually to close the gaps that currently exist”.
