Leidos to sell engineering firm AMS to investors

by Marc Selinger

US government contractor Leidos plans to divest its Aviation & Missile Solutions LLC (AMS) engineering business to focus on its “leading-edge and technologically advanced“ offerings, Leidos announced on 15 February.

Based in Huntsville, Alabama, AMS is part of Dynetics, which Leidos acquired for USD1.65 billion in 2020 to increase its capabilities in high-tech areas such as directed energy, hypersonics, and small-glide munitions.

Leidos is selling AMS to private investors, which it did not name, for USD18 million. When the transaction closes, which is expected in the current fiscal quarter, AMS will operate as a small business.
