Final deliveries of VMIMS to Indian Army scheduled for end of 2024

Milanion NTGS, the UK manufacturer of the Alakran deployable mortar system, has said deliveries of the Indian Army's Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar System (VMIMS) are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
The announcement coincided with the Indian Army's first public display of the system at the 75th Republic Day parade held in New Delhi on 26 January.
The VMIMS comprises the Alakran-L automated, deployable mortar system fitted with an 81 mm barrel mounted onto the rear of a 4×4 Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle (ALSV) built by Indian firm Mahindra Defence Systems Limited (MDSL). In Indian service, the ALSV is known as ‘Armado'.
It is not clear when deliveries of the VMIMS started. However, Colonel Manish Kumar (retd), head of sales and marketing of land systems at MDSL, told
at the DefExpo exhibition held in October 2022 that deliveries would commence in 2023.
Indonesian National Armed Forces receives armoured vehicles

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has handed over 52 armoured vehicles manufactured by PT Pindad to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia: TNI).
According to a press release by PT Pindad on 28 February, the MoD handed over 10 Harimau medium tanks, three Badak 6×6 wheeled armoured direct-fire support vehicles, and 10 Pandur II 8×8 fire support vehicles to the TNI.
In addition, the MoD handed over 12 Anoa 6×6 armoured personnel carriers (APCs), seven Komodo 4×4 light armoured vehicles, and 10 Maung 4×4 light tactical vehicles to the TNI.
The handover took place on 28 February during a TNI-Indonesian National Police (Polri) leadership meeting held at TNI headquarters in Jakarta.
In November 2014 PT Pindad and Turkey's FNSS Defence Systems collaborated to develop a medium tank. The tank was named as ‘Harimau' in Indonesia and ‘Kaplan' in Turkey.
Austria has ordered 225 Pandur EVO AFVs for the Bundesheer. (GDELS)
A contract for 225 Pandur Evolution (EVO) armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) for the Austrian Armed Forces (Bundesheer) was signed by Minister of Defense Klaudia Tanner, Chief of Defence Staff General Rudolf Striedinger, and managing director of General Dynamics European Land Systems-Steyr (GDELS-Steyr) Martin Reischer on 19 February.
Present at the signing were Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Karl Hufnagel, managing director of ESL, which will supply the AFV's 12.7 mm remote controlled weapon station (RCWS), 16 120 mm mortar sets, as well as other systems.
The order includes conversion kits for medical evacuation (medevac), command-and-control, and anti-tank missions, as well as eight additional vehicle variants to be introduced into the Bundesheer. Thirty-six of these (with nine options) will have Rheinmetall Air Defence Skyranger 30 mm turrets for mobile short-range air defence and to counter unmanned aircraft systems. Deliveries will takeplace until 2032, with Tanner speaking of options for a further 150 vehicles.

Austria becomes launch customer for Rheinmetall's Skyranger 30 air-defence system

The Bundesheer (Austrian Armed Forces) and Rheinmetall announced on 23 February that they had signed a contract for the German company's Skyranger 30 turret, making Austria the launch customer for the air-defence system.
Austrian Minister of Defence Klaudia Tanner and Rheinmetall Air Defence CEO Oliver Dürr signed the contract on 21 February for 36 Skyranger turrets to install in the same number of the 225 Pandur Evolution (EVO) 6×6 armoured vehicles Austria ordered from General Dynamics European Land Systems-Steyr (GDELS-Steyr) on 19 February. Under the contract, valued in the mid-three-digit million euro range, deliveries are scheduled for 2026–30.
