DSEI 2021: Companies gear up for UK's Mobile Fires Platform competition

Defence companies promoted their solutions for the UK's Mobile Fires Platform (MFP) at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2021 exhibition, held in London on 14–17 September. Janes noted British Army delegations visiting the stands of the firms competing for the MFP requirement.

Hanwha Defense launched Team Thunder at DSEI on 14 September, offering the K9A2 self-propelled howitzer (SPH) for the MFP. Team member Soucy Defense offers composite rubber tracks, which Pasi Pasivirta, Hanwha's director for business development in Europe, told Janes on 16 September would provide the K9A2 with road mobility, which is an MFP requirement.

IAV 2022: Dragón IFV spearheads Spain's Army 35 transformation programme

Janes learned details of Spain's Dragón infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) programme at the International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) conference held in London from 24 to 27 January. The IFV was described as the spearhead of Spain's Army 35 and as the most representative of that transformation programme.

IAV 2022: Patria 6×6 Common Armoured Vehicle System offered in various versions in addition to APC

Janes learned more details about the Patria 6×6 Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) at the International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) 2022 conference being held in London from 24 to 27 January.

Patria describes the vehicle as a 6×6 battlefield taxi that is easy to operate and maintain.

In addition to its basic configuration as an armoured personnel carrier (APC), the vehicle can provide fire support and indirect fire, as well as medical evacuation, command-and-control, and engineering support.
