IDEX 2021: Kia unveils new 4×4 vehicle concepts

South Korea’s Kia Corporation unveiled two light tactical defence vehicle concepts at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2021 held in Abu Dhabi from 21–25 February.

The company said in a statement that both the ‘Light Tactical Cargo Truck’ and ‘Bare Chassis’ concepts displayed at the event are based on a 4×4 modular platforms and can be used as mobile workshops, communication hubs, or to carry troops or cargo.

Developed by Kia in close co-operation with South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), the concepts feature independent suspension systems as well as run-flat tyres to ensure “enhanced usability in harsh environments”, said the company.

Referring to the Light Tactical Cargo Truck, Kia said that the four-seat vehicle, which also comes in an armoured version, has been equipped with a cargo box for transporting troops and/or equipment.
