Eurosatory 2026: MKE displays naval Tolga C-UAV gun system

Turkish defence company MKE displayed a stabilised naval version of its Tolga twin 20 mm revolver cannon system at the Euronaval 2026 exhibition, held in Paris from 3-6 November.

This mount was demonstrated during the TURNAs 2026 naval exercise on board of the Turkish corvette TCG Beykoz at the end of October 2026. The system successfully engaged and destroyed both an aerial and a surface threat.

The Tolga has two 20mm guns, one electro-optical system, and ammunition on the mount.

The Tolga counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (C-UAV) system has dual feeding, enabling the operator to switch between high explosive or preprogrammed fragmentation ammunition. The two guns can operate independently or simultaneously. Each can fire 1,600 rounds per minute, and the mount carries 600 rounds.

The weapon mount has four independent axes of movement, comprising azimuth and elevation axes and two boresight axes. This configuration allows the guns to move independently of the electro-optical sensors, enabling the system to maintain target tracking while directing fire towards a predicted interception point. The weapon has an elevation range of +70° to -30° and can achieve a traverse speed of approximately 60°/s, according to the manufacturer.

The system can fire both conventional high-explosive (HE) ammunition and MKE-developed fragmentation ammunition. The fragmentation ammunition uses predetermined detonation settings rather than programmable fuzes.

Each gun can fire 1,600 rounds per minute. The two guns can operate independently or simultaneously, while operators can select the firing sequence, ammunition type, and number of rounds through the system's control interface. Anticipated engagements generally involve short bursts of approximately 20 rounds rather than sustained firing. The ammunition is supplied in 300-round containers.
