UK company MSI-Defence Systems has secured a contract worth GBP29.7 million (USD39.8 million) to supply 30 mm gun systems for the German Navy's F128 frigate programme.

Revealed by the company in a regulatory announcement on 21 October 2026, the GBP29.7 million contract with German shipbuilder TKMS covers the delivery of 12 DS30M A2 mountings to equip an initial four F128 vessels. This follows an earlier contract from Saab to supply DS30M A2 gun systems for the modernisation of Germany's F123 Brandenburg-class frigates. The company said deliveries would follow the F128 programme schedule over the coming years.

The contract award from TKMS is the third major naval contract secured by MSI-Defence Systems since mid-2026. On 24 August 2026 the company announced a EUR19.4 million contract from a NATO country – believed to be Lithuania – to supply three DS30M A1S naval gun systems for counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (C-UAV) protection. This contract will see 30 mm gun systems supplied together with radar and electro-optical sensors and a proprietary fire control system. Deliveries are expected to begin towards the end of 2027, according to the company, which did not identify the customer in its announcement.

MSI-Defence Systems is acting as both prime contractor and integrator for the contract, which covers a C-UAV upgrade for three existing naval vessels. Janes
