Anadolu Shipyard launches two LCMs for Qatari navy

Turkey's Anadolu Shipyard launched two landing craft mechanised (LCM) for the Qatari Emiri Navy at its yard in Tuzla, south of Istanbul, on 7 February.
The LCMs, named Broog (QL 40) and Ishat (QL 41), are being built by the shipyard under a contract signed with Barzan Holdings in 2020. The contract includes the construction and delivery of one large landing craft, tank (LCT) and one landing craft for vehicle and personnel (LCVP).
Construction on the two LCMs started in April 2021, and under current planning the ships are expected to be delivered to the Qatari navy in August this year.
The vessels displace 130 tonnes, with an overall length of 40 m and a beam of 7 m. They are powered by two diesel engines and two water jets to deliver a top speed of 20 kt.
The LCMs will be operated by a crew of three and will be armed with two 12.7 mm remote-controlled weapon stations. The craft will be able to carry cargo up 70 tonnes or 120 troops.
