The Netherlands is procuring more armoured vehicles, Dutch State Secretary for Defence Derk Boswijk has informed parliament in writing. The planned procurement is for CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, bridge laying vehicles, breaching vehicles, armoured recovery vehicles (ARVs), and Armoured Combat Support Vehicles (ACSVs).

In a letter to parliament dated 26 October 2026, Boswijk said the CV90s would equip a Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) 13 Medium Brigade mechanised infantry battalion to be formed in Budel in the western Netherlands. The procurement is being conducted through the Swedish-led CV90 MkIV Nordic initiative in which Finland, Norway, Lithuania, and the Netherlands also participate.

In an earlier letter to parliament dated 22 October, Boswijk said the Leopard 2-based Kodiak breaching vehicle had to be replaced by more reliable vehicles capable of clearing the widest variety of obstacles. The Netherlands is also procuring more bridge laying vehicles, possibly by joining a German contract for a modern version of the Leguan armoured vehicle launched bridge expected to be signed in the first quarter of 2027.

The Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) is also procuring Wisent-2 ARVs and ACSVs from German company FFG. The ministry said that ACSV exists in several versions, including ambulance, command post, mine layer, and driver trainer.

The MoD expects the procurements to provide work for Dutch companies. Van Halteren Technologies will assemble the ACSV and ARV in the Netherlands, in addition to providing maintenance, with companies such as KONI Nederland and Neways Electronics supplying parts and Avient Protective Materials super fibres for the ballistic protection of the ACSV.
