Rohde & Schwarz has presented its R&S MP007, the latest in its series of man-portable direction-finding (DF) systems, according to the company's 5 August 2026 press release.

The MP007 system was designed for a number of applications including spectrum awareness and emissions control (EMCON) as well as interference localisation, area and personnel protection. In DF mode the MP007 has a frequency range of 9 MHz to 8 GHz using an R&S ADD507 compact VHF/UHF DF antenna, with reduced performance below 20 MHz, according to company specifications. In active mode, it has a typical DF accuracy of 2° root mean square (RMS), measured in a reflection-free environment. It uses the Watson-Watt method at frequencies up to and including 300 MHz, and correlative interferometry above 300 MHz.

In receive mode, the MP007 has a selectable intermediate-frequency (IF) spectrum display range of up to 40 MHz. When using its optional CS-PS (panorama-scan) function, it has a scan rate of up to 60 GHz/s.

The MP007 weighs approximately 27 kg when including cables, two mast extensions, and two batteries. The two hot-swappable lithium-ion batteries provide up to eight hours of operation in DF mode per charge.

By connecting multiple MP007 systems it is possible to form a radiolocation network. It has two ethernet interfaces: one for direct system control and another for integration with customer-provided IP communications infrastructure, such as tactical radio links.
