The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (CGA) is procuring an unspecified number of Devil Ray T24 unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) from Florida-based Maritime Tactical Systems (MARTAC).

MARTAC announced on 13 October that it will collaborate with Taiwanese defence technology company Confucian and the state-owned National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) to deliver the USVs to the CGA.

MARTAC said the procurement builds on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) it signed with Confucian and NCSIST at the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE) in September 2025.

The company added that an initial number of USVs will be manufactured at a strategic partner's facility in Edgewater, Florida, while the remaining vessels will be built by Confucian in Taiwan.

The Florida facility likely belongs to vessel builder Solace, which is based in Edgewater. In mid-September, MARTAC announced a manufacturing partnership with Solace to scale up production of its Devil Ray USVs. MARTAC said the partnership will enable it to increase Devil Ray production by 100 vessels per year to meet growing USV requirements from the US and allied militaries.

Confucian CEO James Lee said the procurement represents the Taiwan CGA's first USV programme.

According to company specifications, Devil Ray T24 has a length of 8.4 m, a beam of 3 m, a payload capacity of 816 kg, a top burst speed of 50 kt, and a cruising range of up to 600 n miles. The USV can host and deploy smaller USVs such as MARTAC's MANTAS T12 to extend tactical reach of forces.

MARTAC had not responded to Janes request for more information at the time of publication.
