Frankenburg Technologies to test air-to-air C-UAS in Ukraine

Frankenburg Technologies plans to test the air-to-air version of its Mk1 counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) missile in Ukraine at the end of the year, the Estonian company's chief technology officer, Andreas Bappert, told international journalists including from Janes in Tallinn, Estonia, on 23 September 2026. The live firing will be conducted by an Airbus DT25 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Development of the air-to-air version of the Mk1 is being conducted in parallel with that of the ground-to-air version, which will be operationally tested in Ukraine with the aim of validating the C-UAS missile's capability on the battlefield. Bappert presented timelines of the development of both versions, with the ground-to-air missile having been fired 40 times between 14 January and 15 June 2026 and six air-to-air missiles having been fired over six test days, including two each on 13 March 2026 and during a trials week on 23-27 March at the Todendorf training area in northern Germany. Over 100 Mk1 ground-to-air missiles have been fired in Ādaži, Latvia, since July 2025.
