Australia to procure portable C-UAS from US firm

The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has awarded a USD6.9 million contract to Florida-based Ondas to procure an undisclosed number of wearable and hand-held counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs).

Under the contract, Ondas will supply its Detect, Track, Identify and Mitigate (DTIM) Kits to the DoD through Australian firm HIFraser, the company said on 20 July.

DTIM Kits are being procured under the DoD's Land 156 project, which was launched in February 2025 to deliver a layered and distributed C-UAS capability against small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Ondas said each DTIM Kit is integrated with its Dronebuster (DB4) handheld effector, and a DJI AeroScope remote identification system to track UAVs in real-time.

The company added that DTIM Kit enables long-range omnidirectional detection of UAVs at ranges of up to 25 km, and incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)-powered UAV identification supported by an updated threat library. The system also features a team awareness kit (TAK) display for situational awareness.

According to company specifications, DB4 detects and disrupts UAVs operating across the 400 MHz–6 GHz spectrum through jamming or spoofing techniques. Janes data shows that DB4 is in service with the US Army.

DTIM Kit was developed by DZYNE Technologies, which was acquired by Ondas in early July.

Ondas had not responded to Janes request for more information at the time of publication.
