Poland has expressed interest in procuring L3Harris's Aeris X airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, Robert Peacock, director of strategy, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) sector at L3Harris, told Janes on 6 May at Defence IQ's C4ISR Global 2026 conference in London.
“We're in discussions with them now about the features of our platform and what it can provide for their airspace,” Peacock said. The aircraft has the same sensors, electromagnetic support measures (ESM), and mission management system as the Italian Gulfstream G550 Conformal Airborne Early Warning (CAEW) aircraft, according to Peacock.
An Italian Gulfstream E-550A CAEW aircraft was operated along with F-35s by Task Group Lightning as part of NATO's Enhanced Air Policing (EAP) mission including in September 2025. The EAP mission contributes to the defence of NATO's eastern flank. The Gulfstream E-550A CAEW aircraft was used for air surveillance, reconnaissance, and control, according to a 29 September 2025 press release from NATO's Allied Air Command.
Poland told the UN Security Council on 12 September 2025 that 19 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) entered Polish airspace on the night of 9-10 September 2025. “One of the aircraft that came over to assist them [Poland] in that [operation to deal with the airspace violations] was the Italian CAEW system. And that's the same resident system that's on this platform [Aeris X AEW&C],” Peacock said.
