Arkeus, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, is establishing a US presence to support its Warden hyperspectral optical sensor in the US.
“It's a huge push right now for US expansion. We do have a business address in Quantico, Virginia, but we're actively looking for sustainment [and] manufacturing now in the United States,” Stan Nowak, vice-president for product and marketing for Arkeus, told Janes on 12 October during the Association of the United States Army annual conference in Washington, DC.
Arkeus has built supply chains in Australia and the US for the Warden and eliminated all Chinese parts to meet US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) requirements, he said.
The company plans to use its Queensland facility, which opened in July 2026, as a template for what it builds in the US, Nowak said. Arkeus is reviewing state incentives and determining the size of facility it needs to meet US demand, he said, adding that the goal is to finalise a site in the first quarter of 2027.
Warden is deployed across Group 3 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) platforms, Nowak said. “My plan moving forward as part of a road map is to miniaturise that slightly so that we can hit the Group 2 market, which is a bigger market,” he explained.
Warden is Arkeus' flagship product and is in full-rate production, with future capabilities in development, including for maritime operations, Nowak said.
