Quantum Systems plans to complete the delivery of thousands of SPYS interceptor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for Ukraine by the second quarter of 2027, company spokesperson Paul Strobel told Janes on 28 October 2026. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced during a visit to Kyiv on 4 October that Germany would finance the production of 20,000 interceptor UAVs as part of an around EUR1 billion (over USD1.1 billion) winter 2026/2027 military aid package for Ukraine.

Asked why Quantum said in a press release on 4 October that tens of thousands of interceptor UAVs would be produced in Ukraine and whether the figure could go above 20,000, Strobel told Janes, “We do not disclose exact delivery batch numbers. Hence the announced number is deliberately vague. Currently, Quantum WIY Industries [QWI, Quantum's joint venture with Ukrainian company WIY Drones] has the capacity to produce several thousand interceptor drones per month, with production designed to scale further as demand increases. We are already delivering interceptor drones under the April 2026 contract with the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) for several tens of thousands of systems.”

Strobel went on to say, “We are expanding the integration of Ukrainian-produced UAVs with our Mosaic UXS software suite. The results of this work were successfully demonstrated during our multi-domain operations Exercise ‘Forward Edge 26' [held in central Germany in October]. In the Ukrainian scenario, the team completed a mission to clear and mine an area while coordinating systems across multiple domains through Mosaic UXS.” The systems involved in the exercise included Vector and Sparta UAVs, the TerMIT unmanned ground vehicle, and Linza multifunctional UAVs.
