Eurosatory 2026: France orders Blaze interceptor UAVs from Origin Robotics, which partners with Alpine Eagle

France has ordered Blaze interceptor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Origin Robotics, the Latvian company announced in a press release on 16 June 2026. The company said France is the latest nation to adopt Blaze following operational deployments of the system in Latvia, Belgium, and Estonia.

The contract was confirmed during the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition held in Paris on 15-19 June following a competitive evaluation conducted by the Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA), the French defence procurement agency. Origin said the DGA carried out rigorous testing across multiple suppliers over recent months before selecting Blaze. According to Origin, the evaluation assessed the system's performance against the operational requirements of the French Armed Forces, including its effectiveness in counter-UAV operations and force protection scenarios.

Local production

Under the terms of the contract, French defence technology integrator DSV will supply Blaze to the French Armed Forces and will establish local assembly and manufacturing capabilities in France in partnership with Origin. According to the Latvian company, the initiative forms part of broader technology transfer designed to strengthen French industrial and technological sovereignty in the counter-UAV domain and to develop a domestic supply chain.

DSV CEO and founder Eric de Trétaigne said, “In the coming months, we will work together to establish local assembly and manufacturing of Blaze in France, building a sovereign industrial capability in a domain that is increasingly critical to national defence.”

An Origin representative told Janes at Eurosatory on 17 June that deliveries had begun to France. The company said in its 16 June press release that training would commence immediately.
