Spain and Ukraine have sent requests to NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC), the alliance has announced.
"On 23 March the EADRCC received a request for international assistance from the armed Forces of Spain in their response to the global pandemic of the coronavirus COVID-19," a NATO official told Jane's on 24 March.
The EADRCC received a similar request the same day as Spain's from the Ukrainian armed forces, NATO said on its website on 23 March.
The EADRCC followed up by calling on international partners to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian and Spanish ministries of defence to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the military units of the two countries' armed forces, as well as Spain's civilian population.
