Belarus hosts joint exercise with UK Royal Marines

Belarus hosted Exercise 'Winter Partisan' on the Losvido training area in the northeast of the country close to Vitebsk on 1-14 March along with the UK Royal Marines' 42 Commando and the UN peacekeeping brigade of the Belarusian 103rd Guards Airborne Division, the Belarusian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and UK Royal Navy (RN) reported on their websites.

The Belarusian MoD said on its website on 15 March that the two countries' troops exchanged experience in basic tactics, survival, navigation, first aid, and countering improvised explosive devices. The RN added on its website on 23 March that 28 marines of 42 Commando's Lima Company trained the Belarusians in abseiling and general tactics for peacekeeping missions.

Two mixed troops of Belarusian paratroopers and British commandos trained together, including under the cover of darkness.
