BAE Systems receives USD339 million order for new US Army howitzers

The US Army has awarded BAE Systems with a USD339 million contract to produce an additional 48 self-propelled howitzer and ammunition carrier vehicle sets.

In a 23 March contract announcement, the service said it was awarding the company with this contract modification and was expecting this latest vehicle traunch set to be delivered by the end of 2023.

BAE Systems noted that this new buy brings the total number of Paladin M109A7 and M992A3 Carrier Ammunition Tracked vehicle sets up to 204, for a total contract value of USD1.5 billion.

"The programme offers vital enhancements for increased capability and sustainment of the Army's Armored Brigade Combat Teams through a critical redesign and production plan that leverages advanced technology," the company told Jane's in a 23 March email.
