The Argentine and Ecuadorian armies have both deployed mobile military hospitals donated by China to support their governments' response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Argentine Army's Hospital Militar Reubicable (HMR), transported in a fleet of 13 containers, has been installed close to the Hospital Militar Campo de Mayo, a military medical centre in Buenos Aires, to support the hospital's work, according to a 21 March press release by the Argentine government. The field hospital has two operating rooms, a facility for X-rays and ultrasounds, a 7,000-litre water tank, a kitchen, and space for up to 28 patients. The HMR was donated by the Chinese government in 2017.
