The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has placed the crew of its logistics support ship, KD Mahawangsa (1504), on quarantine after an individual serving on the vessel is suspected of having Covid-19.

The crew member was singled out as a possible Covid-19 case after his wife came in close contact with another suspected case, according to a statement from the strategic communications division of the RMN’s Western Fleet headquarters on 21 March.

“In connection to this, the RMN is taking precautionary steps by enacting a quarantine order on the crew of KD Mahawangsa after receiving information of symptoms, or signs of infection appearing [among the crew members of the ship],” the statement added.
