The professional medical teams needed aboard US Navy (USN) hospital ships USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) and USNS Mercy (T-AH-19) assembled on 19 March to help prepare the vessels for missions meant to help civilian hospitals on the US East Coast and the West Coast cope with the Covid-19 crisis, Rear Admiral Bruce Gillingham, USN surgeon general, said.
