The ceremony was held at Thumarit Camp, which is next to Thumarit Air Base in the southern province of Dhofar.

Omani television coverage of the event showed the Frontier Force parading at the camp in Pars III 8×8 armoured vehicles and Scorpion tracked reconnaissance vehicles, as well as driving quad bikes armed with 7.62 mm FN MAG machine guns.

Some of the Pars were infantry fighting vehicle variants previously seen in Omani service. This has a one-man turret armed with a 25 mm gun. Others were armoured personnel carrier variants fitted with protected weapon stations.
