GE Marine announced on 9 March that it has been awarded a contract to provide its 4.6 MW LM500 marine gas turbines to power four more Chamsuri II (also known as Patrol Killer Experimental-B or PKX-B)-class fast attack craft for the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN).
The company said in a statement that the turbines are to power the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th vessels of the class, which is also known as the Patrol-boat Killer Medium Rocket (PKMR) class. The latest contract means that all of the 16 PKX-B craft thus far ordered for the RoKN will be fitted with LM500 gas turbines.
