Raytheon has been awarded a USD551 million contract to begin production of Patriot air defence systems for Bahrain, the company announced on 9 March.
It added no further details about the contract other than it was awarded on Bahrain's behalf by the US Army on 30 January. No such contract was announced by the US Department of Defense on that date.
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 2 May 2019 that the State Department had approved the sale of two Patriot fire units with 60 PAC-3 and 36 GEM-T missiles to Bahrain for an estimated USD2.5 billion.
