Textron Aviation, WSU Tech, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) have jointly developed a new tooling apprenticeship programme to generate skilled workers for the former’s aircraft manufacturing plant in Kansas, US.

The scheme will address the long-term production and tooling requirements of Textron, the organisations say, and will additionally help develop Wichita, Kansas – the city in which Textron Aviation is headquartered – as an aerospace cluster location.

The two-year programme is the first of its kind regionally, delivering both the factory and classroom training required for this work.
