Colombia’s defence industrial sector hits record profits, announces new projects

Colombian defence companies are expanding their catalogue of products as they look to gain new international clients.

In an exclusive interview with Jane's, representatives from the Social and Business Defense Group (Dirección de Gestión Empresarial: GSED), an entity attached to Colombia's Ministry of Defence, discussed the status of two major defence companies that produce land-based equipment.

One company, INDUMIL, which manufactures light weapons and explosives, exported USD77 million worth of equipment in 2019, establishing a new record for the company, according to GSED. Previously, in 2018, the company exported USD30 million worth of equipment, according to a company press release dated 23 May 2019.
