Malaysia has confirmed that it will take delivery later this year of the six MD 530G armed reconnaissance/light attack helicopters ordered from MD Helicopters Inc (MDHI) in 2015.
Malaysian Chief of Army General Ahmad Hasbullah Nawawi said the helicopters, which are set to be based on the eastern coast of Sabah, the Malaysian part of the island of Borneo, are expected to be delivered after technical checks and training of the air crew and technicians.
Gen Hasbullah, who provided no further details about the expected delivery date, told reporters on 25 February that the Malaysian government had made the decision to continue with the delivery of the helicopters "sometime back".
