Thales has reported a 19% increase in its order intake over the year ending 31 December 2019, attributed in part to strong growth in its Defence & Security business line.
Order intake totalled EUR19.14 billion (USD20.5 billion) over 2019, while sales increased 16.1% to EUR18.4 billion, and the consolidated order book stood at EUR33.8 billion at the end of the year.
This 16.1% sales increase is true after the consolidation of digital security company Gemalto, which Thales completed the acquisition of in April 2019.
In 2019, the defence and security division reported growth of 16% in its order intake to EUR9.9 billion, making it the most successful business line within the company, while there was a 5.6% increase in sales in this area to EUR8.27 billion.
